This is a humorous piece  where the singer (voicing the thoughts of the flutist) complains about  always having to be the bird. The flute part was inspired by some of the  "birdy excerpts" in the symphonic literature and isn't easy.

This is a very  exciting work. Too much so  to name it "Trio" which was the working title. In my thinking, half  of two plus two is  equal to three, but most people seem to  come  up with two. Maybe it's one of the sings that my brain works differently.
Let the Children Come to Jesus

This charming piece begins with a
simple, yet memorable melody in the children's choir followed by a nice  counter melody in the flute solo. Then the adult chorus omes in with a  black gospel feel and all three come together in the end. The words are  inspired by Mark 10:14
